I get a ton of emails everyday between my work and my personal email so it’s not often that I get an email that intrigues me enough to open if it’s not related to something I am actively working on or planning. Jack Brown Cleaners sent me the email below the other day and I have to say it was pretty entertaining to read. It had everything…a disco ball, a chicken, a patriotic appeal and a nostalgia because everyone has done the chicken dance before. Enjoy!

I have had “write wedding ceremony” on my list of things to do for a couple weeks. I have been putting it off, because I really want it to be sweet and simple, but it seema kinda impossible to fit all our feelings in there. And then there is the writing of the only vows I will ever get to say to my precious fiance! I just really want the whole thing to be right.

So now I have about 50 tabs open on my browser to collect ideas! If you know any good resources, please let me know!

a scrapbook for now

Scrapbooking is one of my first loves. I started right after high school, and loved it so much. When I went off to college, I didn’t have room for all my supplies in my dorm (and I had homework to focus on anyway….). And then, I graduated, got a silly job, and I just haven’t printed out an actual picture in years.

I have been thinking about wedding guestbooks. There are lots of ideas out there. Mostly, I wanted it to be something we want to keep.

Since our families are kinda spread out, I got the idea to make a scrapbook, and include some of our history in it. So I got some photos printed, bought some page protectors, and got to work. I had SO much fun. I am still working on it, so its still just a scrapbook for now, but here is some of my progress so far:

Hotel art

It’s always entertaining to see what type of art hotels choose to display, especially in their lobby. The rooster painting reminded me of the blue chickens that the girl and I painted a year or so ago at Painting with a Twist here in Austin. The other gallery this hotel had in the lobby was pretty cool, but I felt that they might have been trying a bit too hard to be a little too trendy…

pocket square perfection

I have been searching for pocket squares for weeks. I knew I wanted a variety of patterns. I knew I was going to sew a little something on them. I found these squares at Hugh & Crye. I really liked the fun patterns, and the great price, so I snatched up a bunch of them.

I wanted to make them a gift for the men in the wedding. I cut out some little hearts, and sewed them into the corner of each square. What was once just a pocket square is now a special gift, because I put a little heart into it. (get it??)

A snow day in May

I’ve been traveling some for work recently and was in Denver last week and if you can believe it, there was snow in May! I have to admit that it was pretty fun to see snow since I am from Texas and all and don’t typically get to see snow that often. It was a little weird to see it in May though in such force.

making invites

So real talk: It took me a very long time to make our wedding invites. Now, I did choose something crazy, and I totally knew what I was getting into, but there were times when I thought that they I wouldn’t be done until after we were already married. They kept me up at night. I thought about them all day. But even though they haunted my dreams, I loved making them. The guy would leave me sweet little notes of encouragement on top of my supplies. They gave my hands something to do instead of worrying about weddings and stuff. I was a little sad when I finished them, because the time in my life when I made our wedding invitations in my every spare moment was now over.
